Hetul has brilliantly performed at world youth chess championship 2009 organized by Turkish chess federation between 11 Nov to 23 Nov 2009 at antalya.

A total of 230 players from 81 countries participated in the world U-10 category. Hetul started as 13th seed and finished equal 4th with 8.5 points missing the championship by half a point. He drew a winning position with the eventual champion Bai jinshi of China which made the half point difference. Throughout the tournament Hetul played on the top tables. He increased 17 elo rating points in this championship.

With lots of pride I am glad to inform you that my son MASTER HETUL SHAH has been selected in LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS as a youngest player at the age of nine to defeat a grand master in chess. In addition, he won SILVER MEDAL on behalf of the Indian team. Recently in world youth chess championship he stood 5th in world by narrowly missing a bronze medal by 1/2 point. This was also a remarkable achievement for him. In national U-11 recently, he got silver medal again and he is going to represent India in upcoming world and Asian tournaments.
